I love giving gifts; finding just the right thing for each person (and pup) on my list is very satisfying to me. I have my favorite holiday shopping lists that I check every year for ideas and of course, the gift guides for dog lovers are my favorites! And this year, for the first time, I am posting a holiday shopping guide of my own!
I’ve tried to include something for everyone … gifts for dog moms, gifts for dog dads and even a few gift suggestions for dog loving kids! And of course no holiday gift list would be complete without some of my favorite things for dogs.
I hope my picks make shopping for the dog lover in your life a little easier … even if that dog lover is you!
Gifts for Dog Lovers
If the dog lover in your life worries about how their dog is and what they’re doing when they’re not home then this is the perfect gift for them! The Furbo dog camera syncs with their phone so not only can they check on their pup whenever they want, this camera also sends activity and barking alerts. Pet parents can talk to their dogs through the app and toss their pup treats throughout the day. How did we ever live without this???
I was first drawn to this candle, and their others by Malicious Women Candle Company, because of their witty labels but when I found out that the company was born out of the owner’s grief over losing her best friend (something I can relate to unfortunately) and donates a portion of their profits to women in need, I knew I had to include them in my holdiay gift guide.
I didn’t know how much I needed a robot vacuum until I got one and now I can’t imagine my life without it. Between making sure I didn’t frighten the puppies, and my adult Yorkies thinking “chase the vacuum” was a great game, it used to take me forever to clean the floor. Now I can take the dogs out in the yard or into a different room to play or set it to run when we’re sleeping and the problem is solved. If the dog (or cat) lover in your life would like to spend less time cleaning and more time snuggling and playing with their pet, this is the perfect gift for them.
If you ask my husband he’d tell you that he really does work to support my Yorkie addiction (and he’s glad to do it). If this is true for your hubby too he definitely needs to tell the world by wearing this shirt.
Gifts for Dog Loving Kids
I can just picture a family sitting around the table and bonding over this aDOGable jigsaw puzzle. Kids will love learning about different dog breeds while also developing patience and coordination and enhancing their reasoning skills. Parents will just love spending time with their kids.
How cute is this little guy??? The minute I saw him I fell in love. Jake, the FurReal Friends interactive Yorkie, barks, sits and jumps up just like a real puppy and rumor has it that he loves hugs too!
Gifts for Dogs
If you follow Lets Talk Yorkie on Facebook you know that a shoulder injury sent me to the hospital a few months ago and now I’m constantly on the lookout for things that will help me baby it while it heals so I was THRILLED to find this iFetch interactive ball launcher. It throws the ball and with a little practice dogs learn to bring it back and put it in the iFetch themselves. This is a MUST for ball obsessed dogs. And if your pup is anything like mine, I highly recommend getting extra balls.
I’m the aunt that gets the kids educational toys for the holidays and I’m the same way with my pups. I love getting them toys that will keep them busy both physically and mentally and puzzle toys are great for both. So when I saw this squirrel interactive puzzle toy by Outward Hound I knew it would be a hit with my Yorkies and I’m sure your pup will love it too … how could they not … it’s squirrels afterall.
Some dogs like Yorkies that have hair rather than fur and hairless breeds like Chinese Cresteds, really do get cold in winter and sometimes need to wear something so they don’t get a chill. These pajamas will keep your pup warm and they look great too. There is a big selection of patterns for both girls and boys so if you’re anything like me, you may have trouble picking just one.
Imagine how happy your pup will be coming home from walking or playing in the cold and curling up in this heated dog bed. That’s right, it’s heated!!! And every dog that lives in a cold climate needs one.
If they could talk, my Yorkies would tell you that these balls are their favorite toy and that if you get one gift for your dog this holiday season, these silly face squeaky balls should be it. I bought them on a whim last winter, sent them home in my puppy go home packages, and before long I started getting messages from my puppy moms asking where they could get more. I posted about them on Facebook, some of my followers got them and started raving about them too — one dog mom called them “Yorkie crack” and it’s true!!! I do not know what it is about these balls but my Yorkies are OBSESSED with them so of course they should be under your tree for your pup this Christmas.
Every furry fashionista needs a denim jacket and this one by Canada Pooch is the absolute cutest one I’ve ever seen – just look at the frayed edge detailing on the arm holes! and it comes in pink too! I never trust a jacket with a leash hook attached to stay closed, and I can never get a harness to fit properly on top of a coat so to me the best part of this jacket is the hole for the leash to attach to your pups harness that they wear under the coat.
A mermaid and a sloth in one toy … if this isn’t the cutest thing I’ve ever seen I don’t know what is.
Traveling with your dog is a lot easier with this 3 in 1 car seat, carrier and bed! When it’s closed you can carry it using either the handle or shoulder strap, attach the shoulder strap to your cars head rest and put the seat belt through the handle and it’s a car seat, and unzip and remove the top and it’s a bed.
Not only are these leopard booties absolutely a-dor-a-ble but they are functional too. Booties don’t just keep your pups feet warm, the non skid bottoms keep them from slipping on ice, and the fact that they protect your pups feet from salt makes them a must for pups that live in urban areas. (Not a fan of animal prints? That’s ok, they come in solid colors too)
I saved the best for last. Of all of the things I bought for my dogs this year, the Bully Stick Holder is hands down one of my favorites. The holder is a little heavy for small dogs and took some getting used to but when they did my Yorkies didn’t mind it, and while that’s great, it’s not why I love it sooooo much. The reason is that I’m always hesitant to give my pups bully sticks because I worry that I won’t notice how small the bully stick has gotten and one of my pups will choke on a piece but this holder solves that problem. The bully is held tightly in place so it’s virtually impossible for my dogs to get it out and choke on it (I use thick bully sticks). So now my pups get their favorite treat more often, I don’t worry as much, and everyone is happy.
Wishing you a happy and healthy holiday season!
